9-festival-hair-hacks-coachella-hair-extensions-blog-milk-and-blushHeading to a festival this summer? Yas gurl! We bet you’ve got your outfits planned already and have stacked up several Pinterest boards of boho inspiration. The one thing you really need to prepare for though is not washing your hair… those festival showers are something else. To help you out we’ve put together 9 festival hair hacks that will keep your tresses looking amazing till the very last set.

1. Plan your looks!

This is gonna sound really extra but planning your hairstyles in advance just means you’re prepared and won’t have to panic about your hair. It’s a good shout to practise on 2nd or 3rd day hair so that you can get used to it and test your dry shampoo limit.

2. Curl your extensions before you go

If you’re planning on wearing your hair extensions you might want to curl them before you go as they’ll hold the style really well and you won’t have to worry about not being able to style your hair. We’d recommend pin curling them and letting them cool overnight to achieve maximum staying power. Even if they drop eventually, you’ll still be left with gorgeous mermaid-esque waves on the last day.

3. Find a battery powered hair tool

You can pick up gas or battery powered hair tools that don’t require a plug (yass) a saviour when your makeup station is the corner of your tent. We’d go for some straighteners to tame unruly strands or a heated brush to add volume at your roots.

Your hair is going to get super dry and frizzy in the sun so you’ll need to smooth the ends with a small amount of serum to keep it under control. Obviously you don’t want to overload on product but it’ll make a big difference in the fight against frizz.

5. Dry Shampoo, Dry Shampoo and Dry Shampoo

Not so much a hack but more of a necessity. You need to pick up a bottle with a strong, fresh scent that will mask how horrendous your hair smells by the end of the festivities. We’d recommend spraying it through your lengths too for extra texture and to create a beachy vibe.

6. Take a back up hat

On the last day this will be your best friend and hide your greasy roots before you finally make it home for a shower. You could also take a few hair accessories for the rest of the weekend as they’re really on trend and can help to elevate simple styles.

Glitter will make anything look better including your eye bags, second day makeup and greasy roots. If you need a quick pick me up just smooth some hair gel on your part and pack on the sparkle for an effortless, mermaid inspired look.

8. Backcomb

If all else fails backcombing will add texture to your hair which in turn helps to disguise greasy roots. Try and concentrate it on the layers underneath for volume and as close to your roots as possible to stop it looking like a bird’s nest.

9. Take a hair kit

Going to a festival with a bottle of dry shampoo and a hair tie isn’t going to cut it, you want to take a kit that will keep your locks in shape no matter what. Stock up your bag with bobby pins, hair ties, clips, accessories, hair spray and whatever else you need to create the styles you’ve planned.
