Let’s be honest, as much as we love hair extensions the whole point is that no one knows you’re wearing them. That’s why it’s super important to make sure your wefts are concealed, so that your extensions blend seamlessly into your natural hair. If you’re new to extensions or are having trouble clipping them in then we’ve put together a few of our favourite tips on concealing your hair extension wefts. These hacks will make it super easy for you to get a seamless blend so that no one will know you’re wearing hair extensions…

#1 Don’t Clip Them In At The Root

Rather than clipping your hair extensions in at the root, you want them to sit about 1cm down from where your hair is parted. This will ensure that your wefts are lying flat to your head and that there aren’t any bumps that will giveaway your hair extensions. It’ll also ensure the clips have enough hair to grab onto so that they’re super secure in your hair.

#2 Leave Enough Hair To Cover Them

In order for your hair extension clips to be totally covered you need to leave enough of your own hair on top of your extensions. This is why we don’t recommend clipping in your wefts any higher than eye level so that you have plenty of hair to sit on top. It’s also worth checking the back of your hair in the mirror, once they’re all clipped in as if any of the wefts are on show you’ll need to move them further down.

#3 Backcomb The Hair Above

On a super windy day your hair will part and it could expose the top of your wefts so it’s worth backcombing the hair above to make sure you’re covered. All you need to do is gently tease a small section above where you clipped in your highest weft to hold the hair together. This will prevent it from parting so that your clips stay hidden underneath.

#4 Use Root Touch Up Spray

As hair extensions don’t come with roots they can contrast with your natural regrowth if your hair parts. To blend the top of the wefts into your own hair you can use some root touch up spray to create a faux root. This will make your extensions blend seamlessly into your natural hair at the top, so that if it does part no one will notice a disconnect.

#5 Make Sure They’re Secure

There’s nothing like a weft slipping out of your hair to giveaway the fact that you’re wearing extensions, which is why it’s so important to make sure they’re secure. Before you clip them in you want to backcomb your hair at the root so that the clips have more to grab onto. This is great if you have fine hair as it will help to add some extra volume too and you want to secure this with some hairspray before clipping in your wefts.
