Miley Cyrus' Hair History
If you’re looking for some hair inspo to switch up your look this year then we’ve got you totally covered with our series Hair History. Each month we take a look back at some iconic celebrities and trace their hair evolution to where they are today.
This month we chose our fave Disney babe Miley Cyrus who’s been on quite the hair journey since her Hannah Montana days. We can’t quite believe some of the hairstyles she’s managed to pull off but if you’re looking to get a little more creative with your style then this is going to be the post for you…
It’s Hannah Montana!! This was the year the series launched on the Disney Channel and it was the most watched show ever. For her new role Miley went for these honey toned highlights and full volume curls.
This blonde wig was Hannah Montana’s signature hairstyle and we kind of miss those super blunt bangs on her.
For her appearance at the Oscars this year Miley went for a super textured updo in this warm brown shade. We love this look on her and it’s so much more sophisticated than her Hannah Montana hairstyles.
Carrying on with the super sophisticated theme Miley went for this sleek and shiny blow dry in honey toned brown for the American Music Awards.
We’re kind of obsessed with this super sleek pony she wore to the American Giving Awards and we love those long, ombre extensions! For a quick tutorial on creating a pony with your set just click here.
At the Billboard Music Awards Miley totally changed up her hair with this blonde, 60s inspired bob that was super voluminous. The honey tones are so flattering and this is a great cut for adding loads of volume to shoulder length hair.
At the end of this year she completely changed her hair again with a short, peroxide pixie cut. Only Miley could pull off this hairstyle...
While growing out her cropped hair Miley went for this blunt bob with choppy bangs which is giving us all the 1920s vibes.
She’s still in the process of growing out her pixie cut here but switched it up with a pop of teal for the Met Gala. If you want to try this out without the commitment we created a really similar look using the IGK Holographic Foam here.
At the MTV Video Music Awards Miley moved a million miles away from her Disney girl image in this crazy ensemble and dreadlock ponytail. We’re not sold on this look but it’s definitely attention grabbing.
At the premier of A Very Murray Christmas, Miley debuted another wacky hairstyle in the form of these rope space buns. This is actually a really cute idea but we’d maybe create the look with your M+B hair extensions rather than hitting the hardware store.
Miley replaced Gwen Stefani as a judge on The Voice this year and went full Bardot vibes with these sweeping bangs and french braids.
She’s been rocking these grown out roots for so long her hair is practically ombre here but we love how this high pony makes the most of the contrasting colour.
We’re obsessed with this super boho take on Hollywood waves that she went for at the Met Gala and it looks insane with her LBD.
In December last year Miley married her longtime beau Liam Hemsworth in a super secret ceremony and went for some loose, classic waves.
Miley stood in for her husband at the premier of his new movie Isn’t It Romantic as he was feeling ill. So sweet! She went for this super sleek, high pony to show off her voluminous gown and bright red lip.
At the Vanity Fair Oscars party this year Miley dressed up these insane beachy waves with her black sequin dress and a ton of diamonds. We’re obsessed!
Wish you were as brave as Miley with your hairstyle changes? Because SAME! This girl has had some crazy looks but we love that she never stops experimenting.
