This Is Why You’re Shedding So Much Hair ATM
It may sound a bit crazy to say that our hair changes with the seasons but it’s 100% true. Hotter and colder weather affects our strands in different ways and it’s not unusual to notice changes to your hair as we go through the seasons. You may have noticed that it’s been shedding way more in the last few weeks too and that’s also down to the recent change in weather. Freaky right?
This is because during the summer our follicles prolong the rest, or “catagen”, phase to hold onto our hair for longer and protect our scalp from the sun. So if you spent a lot of time sunbathing this year then it’s likely you noticed a lot less shedding than usual because of it.
Once it starts to get cooler your follicles will then enter the “telogen” phase and your hair will start to shed. Those hairs along with your normal amount of shedding can mean you lose way above the average of 50-100 strands a day. This can be pretty scary when it happens but provided the shedding starts to slow in the next few weeks it’s totally normal.
That being said, all that shedding and the colder weather can lead to limp hair that feels a little thin so now is a good time to stock up on some volumising products. We’ve popped a few of our faves below that you can easily incorporate into your routine to bulk out your strands until they’re back to normal.
Bumble and bumble Prêt-Á-Powder Très Invisible Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo is the easiest way to add some extra volume to your hair. This one from Bumble and Bumble is invisible so you won’t have to worry about residue and can use it from your roots to ends to really bulk out you strands.
Your M+B Hair Extensions
Well, DUH! Our hair extensions are a really quick and simple way to add volume back into your hair with very minimal effort. We have a lot of different weights to choose from so you can decide how thick you want to go. Clip-ins are also damage free and won’t put any strain on your follicles like other extension methods, so they’re perfect for finer hair types.
Umberto Giannini Mermaid Hair Volume Mousse
This lightweight mousse will add loads of volume and texture to your hair without any crunchy residue. It’s also rich in coconut oil so it’ll add loads of moisture back into your hair and smooth over dry ends. To get the best results apply it to wet hair before you blow dry to set it in place.
BaByliss Boutique Hair Rollers
Rollers are a really easy way to get some more volume in your hair and once they’re in you can just leave them to do their magic. If you haven’t quite mastered an at home blow dry these are an easier way to get the same results while giving you loads of root lift.
