How to Hide Clip-In Hair Extensions & Bangs

If you’re not that familiar with hair extensions, you probably don’t realise that they are everywhere!

That’s because they can be blended seamlessly into natural hair to add length, volume and subtle shades to your locks.

Clip-ins are the kindest and easiest type of hair extension to apply, but they may require extra work to make sure they’re completely undetectable when fitted.

So, whether you’re a long-time lover of clip-ins, or trying them for the first time – we’re here with some top tips and tricks to effortlessly hide your wefts for a flawless finish...

Tip #1 – Shade Matching

Our first top tip for hiding clip-in hair extensions is – of course – finding the right colour match.

Everyone’s hair has unique shades and tones, so if you find it difficult to find a match from our set shades, remember you can mix up shades too.

Highlighted extensions are great for adding subtle lowlights and highlights throughout your hair without having to pick up a bottle of dye.

If you’re stuck on which shade to choose, use our Shade Match to find your perfect colour.

Tip #2 –Blending Lengths

Another tip that we swear by is trimming your clip-in extensions to blend with your natural hair.

If you have tonnes of layers or razored ends, this is a crucial step for a natural finish.  Extensions that aren’t styled with the rest of your hair are a dead giveaway.

Most stylists prefer to cut clip-in hair extensions when they are fitted to ensure a flawless finish.

To skip this step, shop Milk & Blush extensions. All our extensions are pre-trimmed and ready to wear out of the box.

Tip #3 – Hair Teasing

If your hair is extremely fine and soft, you may sometimes find your extensions can slip when there isn’t enough hair to cling onto. This can make the wefts more visible as they come away from the scalp.

To achieve an undetectable look, simply tease the hair where you want to apply the clip-ins – or spritz your hair with some dry shampoo to add grip.

If the hair covering the extensions is a little thin, tease that section of hair as well, so your wefts don’t peek through.

Tip #4 – Root Concealer

Lastly, a top tip used by celeb stylists is to use root concealer.

This is a super easy and fast method to disguise the top of the wefts on clip-in hair extensions. This works if you’re creating a complicated hairstyle such as a braid or top knot.

You can buy root concealer in different shades from most beauty retailers. What’s not to love?
