We’re pretty obsessed with Instagram here at M+B and it’s by far the best place to look for new hair trends and styles. Recently though, we’ve been seeing the same thing pop up time and time again and it’s the humble hair clip that’s totally taking over. Whether they’re covered in pearls, diamantes or a sassy slogan, we literally can’t get enough and they’re the easiest way to accessories your hair and bring a look up to date. As summer approaches, we thought it would be cool to share a few of our fave hair clip hairstyles that will totally slay the gram.
Layer Up
Clips look amazing when layered with other styles to add loads of texture and interest to your look. We’re particularly obsessed with this look and love the idea of layering them with another big hair trend, the slogan clip. You can do this on one side of your hair or on both, depending on how brave you are and it looks totally amazing in pictures.
Most of the time hair slides are paired with super sleek, glossy looks but we love them with these soft mermaid waves and it’s a style that requires a lot less upkeep. You can use them to pull back the top of your hair too which will make your waves look extra voluminous. We LOVE how queen of the clip, Justine Marjan, styles this look.
Pony Goals
This look is insanely simple and a great way to add clips to your hairstyle without making a ton of effort. The super snatched high pony isn’t going anywhere either and layering it with clips will really help to elevate your look. If you want to create this look with hair extensions you’ll need to wrap them around your pony, rather than clipping them in upside down to avoid any bumps. This statement look could also be easily be done with a sleek bun or, even better, space buns! A staple look for summer.
If you want to go all out and really nail this trend then why not try layering your clips from your roots to ends like this crazy style. You might need to ask someone to help you but it’ll be totally worth it and a godsend if you’re prone to flyaways. We’d recommend sticking to a similar colour scheme or style though so that it doesn’t look too crazy!
