First things first, don’t play too much. Playing with your hair - whether through flirtation or out of boredom is a biiiig no no. Twiddling your hair actually transfers oils from your fingertips to your strands which will make your hair much more oily than it actually is. Also, try and refrain from letting people play with your hair (we know we know, it’s feel soooo nice) but, it doesn’t look so nice the next day.

You wash your hair to cleanse the grease and freshen up your hair, yes. But, no - it doesn’t help prevent greasy hair at all. Washing your hair on the daily works to strip your scalp of its natural oils, thus producing more to replace and replenish them. If you wash your hair every day, try cutting back to washing your tresses every other day or at most 2/3 times a week. Trust us, your hair will thank you in the long run and it’ll free up some of your time, too.

Now, when you do wash your hair - be sure to go easy on the conditioner. Avoid smothering conditioner all over your locks and instead focus on the ends to avoid oily roots and lank looking hair. Also, check that the conditioner you are using is right for your hair type. For example, if you have super fine hair you need a lightweight conditioner to help nourish your tresses. Last but not least, make sure that you wash all of the product out of your hair - this is another grease-giving culprit and one that is super easy to prevent.

Okay moving on to styling products. When you are choosing hair styling products be sure to check that these are compatible with your hair type. Keep an eye out for lightweight formulas and avoid opting for products which promote shine and moisture as this will increase the amount of oils in your hair. These types of styling products would work better on dry/dull hair types, not prone to grease hair types.

Finally, it may be time for a much needed detox! Styling products can majorly cause the scalp and strands to become clogged up and if you’re a dry shampoo fiend (like most greasy hair sufferers), it may be a good idea to give your locks a detox to freshen up your scalp. You can easily do this by using a clarifying shampoo 2-4 times a month, or by using a product which is designed to exfoliate the scalp. Remember, the scalp is the gateway to healthy hair so you need to keep it in tip top condition girls.
