Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3: What is it and how do you use it?

Olaplex-Hair-Perfector-No- 3-What-is-it-and-how-do you-use-itOlaplex has been getting some major attention recently and it claims to be the product to bring your strands back from the dead. But this repairing treatment is more than a mask and can actually fix the damage done by heat styling and bleaching. Its third step, the at home treatment is what seems to be garnering the most hype though so we thought we’d take a closer look today and find out what it’s all about.

What does Olaplex do?

The Olaplex treatment is basically a new technology which will help to repair the keratin disulphide bonds in your hair that have been broken by bleaching or heat damage in three steps. Olaplex steps 1 and 2 are in-salon treatments that are often used when dyeing the hair to prevent damage. The third step is your take home treatment to keep your hair looking super healthy and to prevent any further damage in between salon treatments.

What’s so special about No.3?

The thing that’s so exciting about No.3 is that you can use it on its own without having to go to a salon and it can be picked up directly from the Olaplex website. You don’t even have to use it as a follow up treatment to 1 and 2 but just as a weekly treatment on its own. This also makes it a great way to try out Olaplex before investing in the full treatment as No.2 is the same formula as No.3 - just a little bit stronger. Olaplex is all about giving your hair strength and so topping up with the at home treatment will keep your hair looking better for longer and could even help prevent split ends.

How do I use it?

To use No.3 at home simply apply a small amount to towel dried, damp hair, concentrating on the ends. Leave the treatment on for 10-20 minutes and then wash your hair as normal with shampoo and conditioner. You can repeat this process as often as once a week depending on the condition of your hair or if you know you want to make a drastic change.

Anything to worry about?

One thing you do need to be wary of is that this isn’t going to protect your hair from over bleaching or using way too much heat. Just because you’re using Olaplex it doesn’t mean you’ll be able to process your hair any more than normal and you could still be susceptible to damage. At the end of the day bleach and heat are damaging and there isn’t a miracle product alive that can undo that. It’s important to still look after your hair - always use heat protection and don’t overprocess!
