SS19 Hair Trends That Will Get You Totally Excited For The New Year

Nothing gets us more excited for the new year than some killer hair trends and spring/summer 2019 is no exception. From textured braids, to baby bangs and some hair accessories we’ve already added to our Christmas list there are so many cool looks to try out. We get that you might think it’s a little early but if you want to be one step ahead of your bestie then these are the hair trends you need to get down...

Intricate Braids

Braids are always a big trend for the summer but next year they’re getting a lot more intricate and complicated than they have been for the last few seasons. Think two different types of braids in one look, embellishment and lots of texture. Our faves were this super skinny braid leading into a rope braid at Paco Rabanne and this leather embellished long braid at Max Mara that would be perfect for the beach.

Braid Pressing

Leading on from the braid trend is braid pressing and we’re so glad because it’s literally the easiest way to style your hair. You literally just braid your hair and let it set or clamp down on your braid with your hair straighteners for a quicker way to create these loose waves. For everyday we’d copy the long look from JW Anderson and for the eve we love these tighter crimps at Collina Strada.

Hair accessories

Hair accessories are a growing trend from the last few seasons that will definitely be sticking around next summer. The slogan clips at Ashley Williams are a safe investment but it’s all about layering them up like this look at Marco De Vincenzo. We’ve recently filmed a video with four looks using hair accessories if you need some inspo that are perfect for New Year’s Eve.

Sport Luxe Hair Bands

Dior’s whole collection was inspired by ballet dancers and this was reflected in the fabrics with lots of stretch and nude coloured looks. The sporty vibe was carried into the hair too with these tight and stretchy hair bands that held back the hair. For something more understated we love this thick jersey wrap at Jour Ne for hiding a bad hair day.

Baby Bangs

This is one of those trends that always looks amazing but takes a lot of guts to go for as there’s no way you can pin these back! Baby bangs can be really flattering though and this season they’re a lot more choppy and textured rather than a blunt, Vampira vibe. At Miu Miu and Prada they were particularly short and accessorised with a hairband to really accentuate the look.

Red Hair

The biggest colour trend for next year is red hair so if you’re thinking of switching up your shade for a more auburn hue then now is the best time to do it. We love this copper toned hair at Proenza Schouler and this super glossy mane at Missoni which would be a perfect match for our shade I Think We’re Alone Now.

Another hair accessory that’s set to be big next year are bows. But this time they’re very uniform and quite polished rather than the loose, messy ties from last season. Our faves were this half up half down look at John Galliano which is so easy to recreate and this Gossip Girl style pony at Emilia Wickstead.
