It’s that time of year again when you might have some pumpkins lying around and unless you’ve got a fairy godmother, you may be looking for something to do with them. Of course, being Milk + Blush, we’ve found a hair related answer to that dilemma and have created a DIY mask recipe to put them to good use. This nourishing pumpkin hair mask will supercharge your locks and reverse any damage from overstyling or using temporary dyes over the holidays. It’s also the best excuse ever for a pamper night after all that partying...

What you’ll need...

2 Tbsp Pumpkin Pulp

Pumpkins are really rich in vitamin B and C which stimulate hair growth by improving blood circulation.

2 Tsp Argan Oil

Argan oil is rich in fatty acids and vitamin E so it’s super moisturising and amazing for dry or frizzy hair.

1 Tbsp Oatmeal Power

This is amazing at soothing an itchy scalp and will help to keep dandruff at bay while removing any product buildup on your scalp.

What to do…

Step 1

Start by mixing your pumpkin pulp and the argan oil together in a bowl until it’s fully mixed.

Step 2

Next mix in your oatmeal powder a little bit at a time to make sure you don’t get any clumps. Once it’s all mixed you might find that the mask is too runny so you can add a little bit more oatmeal powder to make it easier to apply. Also if you find the pumpkin pulp hard to mash then switch to a blender to get a smoother mix.

Step 3

Working in sections apply the mask from your roots to the end of your hair until it’s totally covered.

Step 4

Put a shower cap on over your mask and leave it on for 20-45 minutes depending on how much your hair needs nourishing. The cap will lock in the heat and help the mask to really penetrate your strands and deeply moisturise them.

Step 5

Rinse the mask out of your hair with warm water and then shampoo and condition as usual.
