Gisou Honey Infused Hair Mask Product Review

If you don’t know about Gisou then we’re about to change your hair game for the better! Founded by our biggest hair inspiration, blogger Negin Mirsalehi, the range is made from honey from her family’s bee garden. Couple that with the most beautiful packaging and an army of followers and you're on to a haircare winner.

As part of our Tried & Tested series we picked out the Gisou Honey Infused Hair Mask this month. With the weather getting colder and the party season in full swing we figured most of you guys would be in need of a hair pick me up. Here's what we thought...

What is it?

The Gisou Honey Infused Hair mask promises to moisturise, improve elasticity and add loads of shine to all hair types. It's recommended that you use it 1-2 times a week as part of your hair routine to keep your hair healthy.

How much is it?

At £42 for 250 ml this is quite an expensive hair mask but you're paying for the key ingredient which is the Mirsalehi family honey. The luxury packaging also accounts for this too but it's definitely a treat purchase.

The Ingredients

The main ingredient is the Mirsalehi honey which is a natural antioxidant that’s full of hair-healthy vitamins and amino acids. As honey is a great humectant and really holds onto moisture it’s perfect for maintaining your hair’s moisture balance and restoring dry or damaged hair. The mask is also free from sulphates and silicones and is cruelty-free.

You need to start by washing and gently towel drying your hair before you apply the mask. Applying it to clean hair will give you the best base and you don't want to strip the mask off your hair after you've applied it either which is why it's important to do this first.

You want to apply a generous amount of the mask onto your wet hair, making sure that it's totally saturated and worked in. If you can, gently section your hair and apply the mask in small sections while working it in with your fingers.

Next, you'll need to leave the mask on for 5-7 minutes in order for it to work its magic!

To complete the process rinse the mask out thoroughly before blow-drying your hair as normal.

What Rhian Thought…

Honestly, I think this may be the best hair mask I've ever used! It's beautifully packaged, smells amazing and the texture of the mask is great too. Other masks I've tried can be too thick or sticky but this one really is perfect and a little goes a long way!

Firstly you need to wash your hair with shampoo and then towel dry, I didn't follow the second step though as I didn't want to towel dry my hair. This can be really damaging as your hair is weakest when it's wet so I used my towel and patted my hair until I absorbed most of the moisture. After this, I applied the mask and it literally glided on to my hair. I left the mask on for 10 minutes just to be extra sure it had worked but it says 5-7 minutes on the box.

I then rinsed away the mask and oh my god! I kid you not, my hair turned to silk!! I don't think my hair has ever felt that good!! The real test though comes when you dry your hair as mine tends to turn into a frizzy nest, so I dried my hair and styled it as usual and it really didn't disappoint! My hair was extra shiny, extra soft, hardly any frizz and when I walked it made that gorgeous 'shhhhhh' sound as if my hair was glitter tinsel, that's the only way I could describe it. I loved it!

But, and there is a but, it's roughly £40 depending on where you purchase which is quite a lot of money for a mask that's directed to be used 1-2 times a week! Due to this, I will be scoring the mask 9/10 as it really is an amazing product but unfortunately, the higher price tag means it won't be getting full marks.

What Christy thought…

I was so excited to try this as I’m the biggest Negin Mirsalehi fan and would give anything for her hair! My first impressions were that the packaging was beautiful, it has a real luxury feel and the box is stunning. It’s also really big so you get loads of product, it’s a way bigger tub than my regular hair mask so I feel like it would last a lot longer.

The mask smells really good and has quite a thick consistency so it’s easy to apply. I did have to work in small sections though and really work it into my hair to make sure it was covered. I then left the mask on for around an hour as this is how long I normally leave them and I wanted to give it a fair test. I also never listen to the rules haha!

Once my hair was dry it did feel a lot smoother and shinier but my ends were still a little bit dry. The biggest difference was that my hair felt really smooth, frizz-free and was way more manageable. It also stayed frizz-free and my hairstyle lasted a lot longer than usual which I love. I think if you have frizzy, unruly hair then this mask would be a game-changer for you. For the price tag I was hoping for a more dramatic result but I would still purchase it again and think if you used it regularly it would make a big difference over time. Definitely an 8/10!
