Hair Hacks Everyone Should Know

milk-and-blush-blog-hair-hacks-you-need-to-know-mainWe’re such a sucker for a hair hack here at M+B and spend way too many hours scrolling through Instagram trying to find the latest. Anything that can cut our styling time in half and make our hair look healthier we’re all for. That being said, there are a few classic hacks that everyone should know to give their hair styling credentials a serious boost. Today we’re sharing our power list of favourites that everyone needs to know...

Tame Flyaways With A Toothbrush

Toothbrushes are the best for smoothing flyaways because they have really fine bristles that can catch the baby hairs better than a normal brush. For a really perfected look just spray your toothbrush with some hairspray and then gently smooth it down your hair. This is a great hack for sleek looks and ponytails!

Curl From The Middle, Not The Ends

When you use a curling wand with a clamp it’s really tempting to secure it on the very ends of your hair and then twist it up. Instead, you want to start curling your hair in the middle before wrapping the ends of your hair around the barrel. Not only will this make your curls last longer but it’ll stop you putting too much heat on the ends of your hair which are more prone to damage.

Perk up your ponytail

To add some extra volume to your ponytail you can use two hair elastics or slide some bobby pins vertically behind it to hold it up. This is great if you have fine or really long hair and you struggle to get volume in your ponytail.

Fake Thicker Hair

Filling in your hairline is the quickest and easiest way to fake thicker hair. If your hair is up you can fill in along your hairline or, if you’re wearing it down then fill in your parting instead. You can use something like the Color Wow Root Touch Up Powder or an eyeshadow that matches your hair colour.

Ponytail Curls

If you don’t have a lot of time to curl your hair then curling it in a ponytail can be a total lifesaver. You can either do one or split your hair into pigtails and then simply curl the hair before taking out the elastic. This will give you loose, natural waves in half the time.

Sticky Pins

To give your bobby pins maximum staying power you want to spray them with hairspray before you clip them in. Don’t forget to place the bumpy side against your head too as this is what will grip onto your hair.

Perfect Your Hairline

If you have a serious cowlick that you need taming then no bend clips are going to be a saviour for you. All you need to do is clip them on your wet hair and before leaving it to set in place as it dries. This will give you the sleekest parting ever! They’re also great for holding your hair in place after you’ve straightened it to avoid any bends.
