Clean Your Heat Tools

Ok, ok so not the most exciting part of spring cleaning your hair routine but scrubbing your heat tools is a really important step. If you’ve noticed that your hair is looking a bit greasy after you’ve heat styled it then it could be because there’s loads of product buildup on the plates which is getting deposited back onto your strands. This is why it’s so important to keep on top of cleaning them and it’s a good thing to do at the start of every season. To clean the plates of your hot tools you can use some rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad to gently buff off any excess product. It’s really quick and easy and will literally take seconds, so there’s no excuses! spring-clean-hair-routine

Clean Your Brushes

Just like your heat tools you need to clean your hairbrushes regularly too. Your shedded strands can get stuck in the bristles and the brush itself could be full of product build up which can make your hair look greasy. We’ve got a tutorial here on how to clean them properly and we’d recommend doing this quite regularly as you use your hair brushes more than your heat tools. spring-clean-hair-routine

Clear Out Your Products

If the hair products you bought last spring are still in your cupboard then it’s definitely time for a clear out! All hair products will expire at some point but not all of them will have clear dates on the packaging so you need to keep on top of what you’re buying. Expired products can damage your hair so it’s not worth the risk but figuring out if they’re in date can be a bit confusing. We’ve written a a quick guide on how to check if your products have expired right here that we think you’ll find super useful and it’ll help to make this step a lot easier. spring-clean-hair-routine

Get Organised

Once you’ve got rid of all your old products and created some extra space you can then get everything organised. This will help to speed up your styling time as it’ll be way easier for you to find the products and tools that you need. If you’re struggling it might be worth picking up some storage boxes for your brushes and tools and it’ll help to keep them in good condition. We’d always recommend storing your M+B hair extensions in their box too but things like bobby pins and hair elastics can go in the side compartment which will give you some extra space. spring-clean-hair-routine

Pick Up A New Set Of Extensions

Your Milk + Blush hair extensions can last anything from 3 months to a year depending on how often you wear them and how much heat you use. The start of the season might be a good time to assess your set though and think about whether it’s time for a new one. You could also totally switch up your look and try an ombre set for the new season if you’re thinking of making a major change. It’ll give you the look of freshly dyed hair without the damage and it’s super easy, just click here for a quick tutorial. spring-clean-hair-routine

Get A Trim

As the seasons change every three months it’s a perfect reminder to get your hair trimmed and a good gap to leave if you’re trying to grow it. Getting rid of your split ends will help to keep your hair healthy as you’ll snip them off before they have a chance to split up your hair. An organised routine and some new products are great but it’ll be a total waste of time if your hair isn’t healthy! spring-clean-hair-routine

Switch Up Your Products

As the weather gets warmer it’s a good idea to switch up your products for more appropriate alternatives. Your hair will still be feeling dry from the cold weather so you’ll want to use moisturising treatments but it might be worth switching to products that are less heavy. You might want to invest in some humidity friendly, anti frizz products too that will help to keep your hair under control in the heat as well as some salt spray for extra texture. We hope you guys are looking forward to the warmer weather as much as we are and that these tips have inspired you to get super organised for spring.
